A California woman had the "paw-fect" idea to ensure one shelter's animals found a loving home this holiday season.
Starting from mid-November, Sacramento real estate agent Kim Pacini-Hauch has been covering the fees for all animals adopted from Front Street Animal Shelter.
To date, Pacini-Hauch has accounted for more than 800 animal donations. The "Home for the Pawlidays" promotion runs through the end of the year.
On average, the shelter has about 400-500 pet adoptions per month. The typical fee to adopt a dog from the shelter is $80-100 and $65 for a cat.
"My greatest hope is that this simple concept has created a heightened awareness that you can find the pet of your dreams at any local shelter across the country," Pacini-Hauch told TODAY.
She estimates that her total donation to the shelter by the end of the year will be upwards of $20,000.
