Donald Trump announced Thursday that Kellyanne Conway, his senior adviser during the presidential transition, has been named counselor to the president.
She will be part of the senior leadership team in the West Wing, with main responsibilities including messaging and executing the administration's legislative priorities.
Conway joined "Fox & Friends" Thursday to discuss her new role.
Conway said she grappled with the decision of whether to continue her service to the president-elect, especially taking into account time spent with her children.
However, after seeing Trump's interactions with his own children and grandchildren, she said she felt confident in accepting the position.
"I know this will be a family-friendly West Wing and White House," she said.
Trump released a statement Thursday praising Conway:
"Kellyanne Conway has been a trusted adviser and strategist who played a crucial role in my victory. She is a tireless and tenacious advocate of my agenda and has amazing insights on how to effectively communicate our message. I am pleased that she will be part of my senior team in the West Wing."
"The gravity and the responsibility of serving at a senior level for the president of the United States, it's difficult to pass it up," Conway said
