Hofseth BioCare ASA (HBC) has received the Food Safety System Certification 22000 (FSSC 22000), which is an ISO-based certification scheme for auditing and certification of food safety systems in the food supply chain. The FSSC 22000 certification scheme is fully recognised and accepted by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and by the European co-operation for Accreditation (EA).
After recently completing the expansion work and recommencement of production at the Midsund plant, the FSSC 22000 standard will further secure the high-quality production of marine ingredients at HBC from 2017.
HBC has during the fourth quarter been granted patents on ProGo® and OmeGo® in several important markets, including Spain, Ireland, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium and Germany. The patent grants for "Compositions and Methods for Increasing Iron Absorption" on ProGo®, gives HBC the sole marketing claim rights to for increasing iron uptake in humans from marine protein sources in these important markets.
From January 2017, Karl Inge Slotsvik joins HBC as new COO. Mr Slotsvik, 35, previously held several positions in Firmenich Bjørge Biomarin AS, such as Production Manager, General Manager and most recently Global Innovation and Business Development Director.
