Green Mountain Coffee - I'm sure you've all heard of it - traded in the range of pennies for years during the 1990's. It changed its name to Keurig Green Mountain just recently. My friend's uncle owned a huge chunk of it in the 90s, which at the time only cost a few hundred thousand dollars, and sold it for a small profit because the company wasn't seeing much of an increase in stock price. He was impatient after years of holding the stock and not seeing a return.
The stock hit an all-time high of $132.40 in 2014. He would've been worth billions. When he bought and sold the stock, he was in his 40s. Everytime my buddy makes a stupid financial decision, I kind of rub it in that it's his uncle's fault for setting a bad example...Lol...
GMCR was recently sold for $13.9 billion.
Moral of the story: you can make $10 today, or $1,000 tomorrow. Do you want to get by with trading, or retire happily by investing? How many billionaire stock traders have you heard of?....Now how many billionaire investors can you name?
