Perfect Storm - not so much greed.

Brazil, Russia, India and China (Bric) = cheap labor costs. Not much we can do about this except innovate new products and protect our advantage in new development by increasing cyber warfare and education our kids in science.
The Fix
Rather than having a Cyber guy in each department we need a cyber warfare cabinet level position and we need it now.

The doubling of our labor market with mothers working starting in the 1970's. Happened for the right reasons and now while fewer and fewer mothers want to work more have to work and the chief proponent has changed from women in the 1970's to get the opportunity to corporations today requiring women to work by artificially holding down pay to the point now where many companies make it a firing offense to even discuss one's pay with their coworkers. Why? Fewer people for hourly jobs = more competition for workers= higher hourly pay = high labor costs = less profits. Salaries, on the other hand, went up because the number of college graduates in technical fields has not kept pace with the need consequentially their salary increases have exceeded worker pay every year.
The fix.
One parent required by law to raise any minor children. It onlky makes sense as a species, as a human and as a parent and mostly as an America with lots of guns.

Poor quality of US education.
We do not teach the sciences in the required amount or quality. Less than a few hundred years ago we locked away scientist who dared to contradict the church. We can no longer do that, so we lock away our minds from science. Today we undermine our capabilities to be the greatest nation by home schooling and foolish banning of subjects and books. It is an unpatriotic act to home school any child, in my opinion.
The Fix
Increase science teachers with free college and better pay. Hire retired engineers and other scientists to teach at all levels. Equip schools and qualify high schools for different sciences, extend public education to 14 years and make the last two years degree specific for college bound students and craft related for skill workers and tailor each student's curriculum to needs of the country. We got enough MBAs, and Lawyers to last for a hundreds years.

Poor quality of US Media.
Ratings and commercials ruined objectivity in the news programs and today you either watch Fox for Boobs and Blonds or CNN for complete drivel delivered by people who can not spell or pronounce or use the English language as it was intended. One must search for objectivity and be careful because the long standing policy of insuring readers or viewers knew an editorial tirade was about to commence is now gone and Hannity, Beck and Don Lemon are considered journalists when in fact they are just talking heads with an agenda that most likely has to do with increasing their salaries with viewership rather than delivering news and none of the other are much better.
The Fix
Get commercialism out of the news. News required at least three time a day for 30 minutes. Must be objective- no talking heads. The airways are ours and we the people should be able to freely give airtime to political candidates. Just candidates talking their platforms. No attacks, No lies, No Ads and at no costs to the candidates. They can then concentrate on the job at hand and not campaign contributions.

Gerrymandering by both parties. Gerrymandering takes away the votes of the people and places it into the laps of the parties and the party's supporters. Today with Republican gerrymandering while very few Republicans are against all forms of weapon controls and the NRA by donations to the party, stops all controls - even mentally handicapped, and felons can get a weapon at a gun show or through the mail. Democrats gerrymandering in the 20th Century pushed union dues to almost 100% participation even though few workers in the 20th century wanted to have to pay union dues in order to work when the job was temporary or seasonal.
The Fix
Eliminate the electoral college, assign representatives by voter population and only voter population. Adjust every four years based on the number of votes each party had. Simple, automatic and changes with the mood of the country.

Corporations given same rights as individuals.
Scalia's greatest contribution was to the 1% with the inclusion of corporations into our constitutional guaranteed individual rights. The power of the corporate vote swamps the individuals power. One man One vote is no match for the kind of money that can control the information one uses to make a choice. We would have seen that play out if Bernie Sanders had been the Democrats' choice. The corporate money (vote) would have been overpowering especially when one considers corporate media outlets and there obvious manipulation of our last elections for no other reason than to keep it close and drive up ratings.
These media giants send their news world wide and should not be considered anything but propaganda for profit.
The Fix
Eliminate the laws as they pertain to Citizens United and stop any non breathing entity, especially corporations, from having rights under the constitution - in 100 years it will be the robots wanting civil rights.

Over reach of Unions and the dissolution of the same.
40 bucks an hour while similar jobs were paying 20 closed shops, moved businesses overseas and contributed to the current mess. Worse was the complete beat down of the same unions by the three branches of our government starting with Reagan's FAA disaster.
The Fix
Allow unions to exist freely and by choice. No force from either side allowed.

Liberal and conservative voices usurped by the 1%.
During this election, "I knew who was for every color of American, I knew who was for every sex of American and I knew who was for every religion of
American but I never knew who was for every American." Still true today.
Only fix are the points above.
