One way that Medicare and Social Security costs will be reduced in the future much more than people think is that it is very hard to get the actual brand-name drugs if generics are made. The problem is that the generics are made in China and India, and who knows what is in them -- possibly not the medication you're supposed to be getting, or the right dose of it. I had a bad sinus infection, got a generic antibiotic, it didn't work. Doctor gave a refill -- I asked for a different maker of the generic, and the infection started clearing up with the first dose. Seems like I'd been taking a "generic" that didn't contain the correct drug or dosage. This is also a problem with bacteria becoming antibiotic-resistant, because if someone takes a dose that is insufficient to kill them, they develop resistance quickly.
I say that costs will be reduced because people forced to take this garbage instead of the real medication will die off, thus solving the twin problems of Medicare and Social Security costs.
