This article shows how ineffective many medicines are, and yet they are marketed to people for some conditions that probably shouldn't even be considered to be diseases. Yet the FDA approves them, and then refuses to approve medications which ARE effective for certain groups of people -- the rationale being that they don't help everyone. The hypocrisy is stunning, since they approved all this stuff that is ineffective for many more people. (I'm referring to the Hemispherx drug for chronic fatigue syndrome that patients said gave them their lives back -- but FDA refused to approve because it only worked for about 40% of people.)
