Gutfeld: 2016 Election Was 'Rebellion' Against Political Correctness

Greg Gutfeld agrees with Bernie Sanders that President-elect Donald Trump won the election because people are tired of political correctness, but he disagrees with the Vermont senator's definition of "politically correct."

On MSNBC Monday night, Sanders said, "I think [Trump] said some outrageous and painful things, but I think people are tired of the same old politically correct rhetoric, and they believe that he was speaking from his heart and willing to take on everybody."

Sanders’ went on to define political correctness as someone being on a poll-tested, focus group-tested script and refusing to speak out against powerful people, including the billionaire class, on behalf of the working families of America.

In his monologue on "The Five" today, Gutfeld said Sanders attempted to turn a real rebellion against the P.C. into "class warfare."

"The P.C. rebellion is about a reaction against the media-academic complex, which tells us what to say, or else," Gutfeld argued. "People were tired of the identity wars that pitted young vs. old, white vs. black, gay vs. straight."

He added that the "power-mad twerps" behind the P.C. movement use smears and slander to force people to submit, and the American people finally rejected it.

"2016 was about millions of Americans becoming intolerant of that intolerant class. Let's hope it sticks."
