NYC Offers Post-Election Therapy to Workers Stressed Out Over Trump
York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is creating a city-wide safe space for municipal employees, offering them therapy sessions to deal with election-related stress.
"Many New Yorkers may be feeling distressed or vulnerable following the election results. ... We have seen the concerns expressed on social media and we are monitoring them closely," the liberal mayor wrote in a recent email to city workers.
According to the New York Post, workers were directed to mental health resources available through a half-dozen agencies.
"The post-election period has been anxiety-producing for many people, understandably. When you throw the holidays into that, it can be a very difficult time for those coping with mental health challenges," a city hall spokesman said.
Hillary Clinton won nearly 80 percent of the votes in New York City, with Donald Trump only winning in the borough of Staten Island.
De Blasio met with Trump a week after the election and later declared that NYC will remain a "sanctuary" for illegal immigrants even if Trump moves to pull federal funds.
