American Health Council Names Barbara Fedoroff to Industry Board

NEW YORK, Dec. 12, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Barbara Fedoroff, Freelance Editor and Blogger, has been selected to join the Industry Board at the American Health Council. She will be sharing her knowledge and expertise in Writing, Legislative Advocacy, Imagery, Phenomenology, and Interfaith Ministry.

Barbara Fedoroff has been a Freelance Editor and Blogger for the past 6 years. Her interest in the healthcare industry has grown out of the recent illness of two family members. She says, “What I once knew of this industry seems very changed.” As an Affiliate of the American Health Council, she looks forward to learning more about the new face of healthcare and working with other affiliates to make a worthwhile contribution.

Barbara co-edited The Encyclopedia of Mental Imagery in 2006 with Dr. Gerald Epstein, founder and director of the American Institute of Mental Imagery (AIMI). She graduated from AIMI in 2000 and is certified in Imagery, Imagination, and Phenomenology.  She is also an ordained Interfaith Minister and graduate of the New Seminary in New York.

As the former CEO of Programs for Parents, a company providing on-going training for early childhood educators and referrals to state-licensed childcare centers and registered in-home providers, Barbara established a work environment where all employees were considered the company’s most valuable asset, their input playing a significant role in the annual corporate plan. She engaged with people at all levels of management, gained leadership positions in organizations that influenced successful outcomes for children, and developed promotional materials and educational programs. Barbara won two Aurora Gold Awards for Excellence in Video Production (Identifying Developmental Delays in Young Children and How Children Learn in Pre-School).

Barbara attributes her success as a writer to self-discipline, her desire to pursue a lifelong passion, and an eagerness to share what she learns. Her blog Tools for Spiritual Living enables imagers to identify current belief systems and change outmoded beliefs using Imagery. The blog also features rituals for sacred religious seasons and presents the Imagery exercises published in The Encyclopedia of Mental Imagery in an audio Imagery feature, enabling listeners to experience Imagery as they would in a class.

Of all her accomplishments, Barbara is most proud of how, as CEO of Programs for Parents, she secured contracts and grants that have prepared thousands of New Jersey’s inner-city pre-school children for success in public school, and advocated for extended child care subsidies in the Federal Personal Responsibility Law, enabling Welfare-to-Work recipients to participate in the program’s required job training and become employed, many for the first time.

The State of New Jersey and Essex County, N.J. have recognized her work on behalf of New Jersey’s children with commendations. Her peers have chosen her to serve in positions of leadership, including Legislative Representative for the New Jersey Child Care Advisory Council and President and Legislative Liaison of both the NJ Family Day Care Organization and the New Jersey Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies.

Barbara’s current goal is to be a kinder voice influencing threatened changes in the healthcare system that may disproportionately affect inner-city children, poor healthcare being a contributing factor to poor school performance.

In her free time, Barbara spends time with her family and recently began researching her ancestry, which has revealed her paternal great (6th) grandfather is John Hart, who signed the Declaration of Independence representing New Jersey.  A true patriot, known as honest John Hart, he ultimately lost his health, wealth, and land to the British. Barbara also loves going to the movies, and makes regular trips to New York City and Hoboken, NJ to meet friends.
