'I Don't Believe It': Trump Responds to CIA Rpt of Russian Interference
On "Fox News Sunday", President-elect Donald Trump reacted to the CIA's recent determination that Russia interfered in the election to help Trump win.
Trump called the report "just another excuse", and said there is usually a different excuse each week from his critics.
He said his victory could be mainly attributed to a "massive landslide victory in the electoral college."
"I don't believe [the CIA report] at all," Trump said.
Trump also told Chris Wallace that he was getting "very close" to selecting a secretary of state nominee.
He said he will have "one of the great cabinets [ever] put together", and showered praise on one possible selection, ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson.
"He's much more than a business executive," Trump said, "he's a world-class player."
Trump said Tillerson, who also served as chief executive of the Boy Scouts of America, was in charge of what is likely the largest company in the world, and that the Texan knows "many of the players".
He also discussed two other possible choices, Mitt Romney and Tennessee Senator Robert Corker, Jr.
Regarding his controversial acceptance of a congratulatory telephone call from President Tsai Ing-wen of Taiwan, Trump said China should not be able to dictate who the United States deals with.
He said he understood the "One China" policy instituted under President Carter, in which Taiwan is seen as a breakaway province of Beijing, but said that China would have to make a better deal with the US in the meantime.
Trump criticized China for building a "fortress" in the South China Sea and refusing to help the United States deal with its neighbor, North Korea..
"It would have been very disrespectful not to [have] taken [the call]," Trump said.
Trump also said he hopes federal law will allow his daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner to aid in some of his executive branch duties.
Ivanka is very interested and involved in women's issues and child-care legislation, while Kushner, a newspaper publisher, would be well-suited to assist in deal-making overseas, he said.
Trump also responded to criticism that he opts not to receive his daily intelligence briefing every day.
He said he did not "need to be told the same thing every day" but that he is on-call at "one-minute's" notice if something changes that he must deal with.
Vice President-elect Mike Pence and several of his advisors receive the briefings in his stead, Trump said.
