McCain: 'Shameless' for Obama to Claim Rise of ISIS Took Him by Surprise
In a new interview, President Obama said that he was surprised by the rise of ISIS.
"The ability of ISIL to not just mass inside of Syria, but then to initiate major land offensives that took Mosul, for example, that was not on my intelligence radar screen," Obama told CNN's Fareed Zakaria.
On "Outnumbered" today, Meghan McCain said it was "shameless" for Obama to place the blame on the intelligence community, since intel on ISIS had been in his daily briefings at least one year before the terror group seized territory in the Middle East.
"I don't know if it's spin to save his legacy or if it's actual delusion," McCain said. "I don't understand how he could possibly think [the rise of ISIS] wasn't going to happen."
She said it's a positive that once Obama leaves office, the U.S. will have a new president who's actually willing to say the words "Islamic extremism."
"We're finally going to have a leader who's at least going to recognize the fact that these people are extremists, and they are either going to come here and kill us or we're going to kill them. And it's going to be one way or the other," McCain said.
"It's very difficult for me to understand where Obama's head space is."
