Pigs are not your friends if they are a reservoir

I am utterly not surprised that something like this has happened. I know someone who has a hobby farm and rents out one of the sheds to raise teeny piglets from shortly after birth to about 3 months, at which time they are trucked to a facility set up to house larger piggies.
It is horrifying to see the conditions these piglets are kept in. The "floor" is steel similar to chain-link fencing, so that all the pigs' urine and feces fall through into a trough below. This means that the pigs can't stand up comfortably, because they are standing on a thin piece of steel that hurts their feet. It is kept at 110 degrees, to try to keep them from getting sick, but huge numbers of flies swarm around (and land on the piglets) because of the feces. I and several other people were given a tour of this shed, and the reaction of one of the other people perfectly sums up the situation. As we walked out, she said with a look of horror, "I will never eat pork again."
This is a crime against nature.
