FORT WAYNE, IN--(Marketwired - Dec 6, 2016) - Trelleborg Sealing Solutions , a world leader in engineered polymer solutions, has received recognition by the Kinetic Process Innovation Awards program for its significant contribution in advanced seal engineering and innovation in the healthcare and medical device industry, more specifically in the advancement of intelligent surgical instruments.
Sponsored by High Tech Views , the panel of judges has selected Trelleborg for this award due to its demonstration of excellence in supporting the design of a new, cutting edge powered screwdriver integrated with software and sensors. The screwdriver can automatically sense when screws are properly seated against the bone and the plate, independent of the age of the patient, hardness of the bone, thickness of the bone and the size of the screw during neurosurgeries.
By offering innovative engineering services and seal design to Pro-Dex for this intelligent powered screwdriver, Trelleborg was able to provide the seals that were crucial to the screwdriver's performance in sterile and complicated operating room environments. Additionally, Trelleborg delivered an exceptional partner experience including a high level of reliability and support to uphold ISO and FDA approval requirements.
Drew Rogers, Global Director of Healthcare & Medical for Trelleborg Sealing Solutions for the Americas, says: "Receiving this award further demonstrates our dedication to continually strive to meet customers' complex requirements and shows we go the extra mile. By collaborating with Pro-Dex to solve their seal engineering design challenges, we are glad to have supported the design of this highly innovative and intuitive screwdriver that is making a big difference for neurosurgeons and patients nationwide."
Drew Barrows, Deputy Editor of High Tech Views, says: "We applaud Trelleborg Sealing Solutions and Pro-Dex for winning this prestigious award. It is testament to the collaboration that Trelleborg and Pro-Dex embraced to improve product design resulting in better performance and quality."
