Joe The Plumber Hits Pelosi on 'New Direction' Denial: 'Better Keep Thinking That'
S. Joseph Wurzelbacher, better known as "Joe The Plumber" for his 2008 run-in on the street with then-Sen. Obama, reacted to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi's contention that the Democratic Party does not need to seek a "new direction" after suffering electoral losses this year.
Pelosi said that Democrats do not need to change their message, but rather find a way to better "connect" their message to the American voter.
"If she thinks that they did a great job, she better keep thinking that," Wurzelbacher said.
A former Toledo-area plumber, Wurzelbacher said President-elect Donald Trump's message and stated values better resonated with his blue-collar neighbors than Hillary Clinton's and Pelosi's.
He said the otherwise Democratic region voted for Trump because they were tired of being "treated like the red-headed step-child" by Democrats and that Pelosi does not represent the values of "blue-collar America".
Wurzelbacher also agreed with former Vice President Dick Cheney, who said some of Trump's success comes from the fact that he is able to talk 'around' the mainstream press through social media platforms.
