Post# of 51171
Donald Trump has yet to take the oath of office, and he has already saved Carrier from shipping many American jobs over to Mexico. Now it looks like other companies are considering staying in the United States and working with Trump to keep jobs here in our country.
Bloomberg reports that the CEO of Ford Motor Company, Mark Fields, is willing to work with Donald Trump to keep jobs in the United States so long as Trump puts the right policies in place.
“We will be very clear in the things we’d like to see,” Fields said. Fields wants to see currency manipulation rules put in place to promote fair trade. He also wants to see regulations for driverless cars and tax reform.
The Ford CEO also wants Trump to soften the rules and regulations on the fuel-economy of cars. He claims these practices are damaging to profits because the rules force automakers to make more electric vehicles and hybrids than customers want.
“In 2008, there were 12 electrified vehicles offered in the U.S. market and it represented 2.3 percent of the industry. Fast forward to 2016, there’s 55 models, and year to date it’s 2.8 percent,” Fields said.
“At the end of the day, you’ve got to have customers, so obviously, there would be pressure on the business if there’s not a market,” he said.
Ford was one of the companies Trump singled out during his campaign for shipping jobs to Mexico. Trump wants to work with these businesses to find out how he can keep this jobs here in the United States. He has threatened tariffs and other penalties for companies who take jobs away from Americans.
This announcement comes after Trump spoke with Executive Chairman Bill Ford to discuss the company’s plans to move a Kentucky plant to Mexico. The phone call helped convince Ford to keep the plant here.
You have Ford and Carrier keeping jobs here after Trump’s involvement, yet where is the praise from the mainstream media over this big victory?
These actions undoubtedly helped Americans maintain their jobs and have money to celebrate Christmas.
Ford has added 28,00 jobs the United States economy in the last five years and employs 85,000 people here. However, it has 8,800 employees in Mexico and still does significant car manufacturing there.
Ford also states this regarding the regulation, “It would be imposed on the entire industry, not just singling out a single company. When you look at the production and supply chains and how they’re integrated between the three countries, (Mexico, Canada, and the U.S.) putting a tariff on that would have a negative impact on all the economies.”
These actions are just a taste of what we can expect from President Trump.
Finally, we will have a President who understands business.
Finally, we have a leader that big companies respect and will negotiate with.
Obama will be out soon, so it is time to make America rich again.
