Cruel Obama to ban smoking in welfare housing

The U.S. Department of Homewrecking and Utopian Development (HUD) said it plans to forbid smoking in public housing units to protect millions of low-income tenants from the ridiculously over-hyped effects of secondhand tobacco smoke.
The ban will affect more than 940,000 units of housing subsidized by federal taxpayers.
“Every child deserves to grow up in a safe, healthy home free from harmful second-hand cigarette smoke,” head HUD honcho Julián Castro said in a statement.
As The Hill reports
Residents living in more than 228,000 public housing units already face smoking bans from state and local authorities. HUD plans to expand the policy to another 700,000 homes.
Under the ban, traditional cigarettes, cigars and hookah will be prohibited, but HUD carved out an exemption for electronic cigarettes.
Low-income housing residents will still be allowed to smoke, but not inside their homes or within 25 feet of any public housing building.
The move is intended to protect children who live with smokers, as well as their neighbors, who are often exposed to secondhand smoke that travels through shared walls and ceilings.
The smoking ban will also crack down on millions of dollars worth a property damaged caused each year from preventable fires and repairs, according to HUD.
So many terrible things have been done “for the children.” Now one of the few pleasures in life many poor people have will be taken away by President Obama.
Vaping is next on the proscription list. While e-cigarettes don’t contain tobacco, they do produce smoke, and have an impact on people near the smoker, Castro said. (Yeah, not so much, Castro. Vaping produces vapor.)
But even if science were on the side of these puritanical left-wingers in Washington, taking on the Lumpenproletariat this way is a bad idea.
The policy will be viewed as punitive and cruel and noncompliance will be widespread.
