You inference that there is no such principle left intact with direct, non-electoral vote, election of the president is.....incorrect.
And your 'small people' vs 'big people' dichotomy is silly, your allegation of fascism is fatuous.
I laid out the ways that each State's population is represented proportionately in the direct election of Representatives and Senators, State and Federal.
And of course there is direct, popular vote election of governors.
There are numerous examples of Red governors in Blue States and vice versa.
So there's the argument for direct election of the president. You live in a Blue State and want a Red president, or vice versa?
Your vote counts MORE because you know it counts toward a national total. It's not 'swallowed up' in a State that is 'safe' for one Party or the other.
Turnout will increase for that fact alone.
