Elmira Terkulova, Russian Pianist, Inspires International Audience at the Scientology Information Center

CLEARWATER, Fla., Nov. 24, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- On Saturday, the 19 th of November, Russian pianist and human rights advocate Elmira Terkulova inspired a diverse audience with songs she composed about her life, freedom and human rights at the Scientology Information Center in Downtown Clearwater. Ms. Terkulova’s debut Clearwater concert featured classical songs from her own album encouraging talent, self confidence and human rights. She shared highlights of her own life and what has led her to where she is today.

As a child, Elmira had always wanted to be a pianist. She studied piano for 15 years, but never had the confidence or ability to perform. One and half years ago Elmira found Scientology and gives it credit for her increased confidence. As a result, she fulfilled her childhood dream and began performing publicly. While in Clearwater doing religious services at the Church of Scientology she was inspired by the United for Human Rights Program and decided to perform at the Information Center under the theme of human rights.

“I want to encourage people to pursue their dreams and remind them about their human rights,” said Elmira. “It’s important that people understand that they don’t have to listen to others’ opinions of what they ‘can’ or ‘can’t’ do. What’s important is that they know they are free to choose what they want to do in life and believe in themselves. ”

Her audience, a diverse cultural mix from Israel, United Kingdom, Italy, Russia and the United States, responded with three standing ovations and rave reviews.

Mrs. Carol Ohrbach said, “I’ve been around a long time and have heard the greats like Dave Brubeck, Errol Garner, George Shearing, and Bobby Short and the amazing Chick Corea. You could easily compare Elmira to these masters. She creates her own compositions in the tradition of great Russian composers. I was reminded of Rachmaninoff and Borodin and I was moved to tears by her performance!”

The center, located at 500 Cleveland Street in Downtown Clearwater, is housed in the Historic Bank of Clearwater. All are welcome.
