Vice President-elect Mike Pence was booed Friday night as he attended the hit Broadway musical "Hamilton" in New York City.
As Pence took his seat at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, he was met with a chorus of boos.
Some audience members also reported that the show was paused several times as the audience loudly booed Pence.
After the show, cast member Brandon Dixon delivered a statement to Pence, saying that the diverse cast is “anxious” about his administration.
Outside the venue, many protesters gathered, including one woman who held up a sign with a line from the musical that always gets a cheer: "Immigrants, we get the job done."
After videos of Pence being booed and jeered went viral, President-elect Donald Trump took to Twitter to defend his vice president.
