Krauthammer: Why Romney Meeting Is an 'Important Signal' From Trump
Donald Trump will meet this weekend with one of his most vocal critics during the 2016 campaign: Mitt Romney.
The president-elect is reportedly considering the 2012 Republican nominee for a job in his administration, possibly secretary of state.
On "Special Report" tonight, Charles Krauthammer said that this is meeting is "quite a signal" from Trump.
He explained that Romney's attacks on Trump were some of the bitterest ever during a political campaign, particularly because were coming from within the party.
Krauthammer said Trump's decision to meet with Romney - and also with some of his other former critics, including Sen. Ted Cruz - "blunts" the prejudice that people have that he will only stick with loyalists and outsiders.
"I thought that was the most important signal of the day."
Judge Andrew Napolitano agreed with Krauthammer's assessment that the Trump-Romney meeting is "extraordinary."
"Perhaps it will show what Donald Trump promised us and not everyone believed, that once he is elected you will see a more presidential Donald Trump, a person who can wrap his arms around those who never would have thought they'd want to be in the same room with him," Napolitano said.
