Lady Gaga Pushes Petition for Electoral College to Vote for Hillary
Lady Gaga is urging her fans to sign a petition that asks the electors of the Electoral College to cast their ballots for Hillary Clinton.
"If you feel scared about the current state of American politics and White House, sign this petition," the pop music superstar wrote on Twitter, with a link to the Change.org petition.
The petition argues that electors should ignore the way their states voted and pick Clinton over Donald Trump.
It calls for the electors to do so because Trump is "unfit to serve."
"His scapegoating of so many Americans, and his impulsivity, bullying, lying, admitted history of sexual assault, and utter lack of experience, make him a danger to the republic," the petition reads.
It repeatedly says that Clinton won the popular vote, and she is the rightful president, according to the will of the people.
"24 states bind electors. If electors vote against their party, they usually pay a fine. And people get mad. But they can vote however they want and there is no legal means to stop them in most states."
As of Thursday afternoon, the petition has nearly 800,000 signatures
