Vancouver, BC, March 11, 2016 – Urban Communications Inc. (TSX VENTURE: UBN), one of the country’s first telecommunications companies to deliver Gigabit Internet service to the home, today announced it has launched a new low-cost 100 Mbps high-speed Internet service at $49 per month.
The new low cost option includes 100 Mbps download speed, 100 Mbps upload speed and 1 Terabyte of data transfer for $49 per month and at launch, customers will receive free installation (normally a $50 installation fee). The 100 Mbps service is designed to make ultra high-speed Internet services accessible to more households, providing them with a superior Internet experience that previously was unavailable at that price.
“Our new lower cost, 100 Mbps option is a direct response to the continuing demand from consumers for Internet service providers to deliver better value and higher speeds,” said Urban’s VP Product, Jon Paul Janze. “We were the first in our market to offer an economically viable, residential, ultra high-speed Gigabit (1000 Mbps) Internet service and we continue those efforts with our 100 Mbps service which is the overall best value ‘dollar per performance’ ultra high-speed Internet offering from any provider in our market.”
The new service will enable customers to get more out of the Internet: stream more video, upload and share more photos faster, play more online games, all worry free and at the same or lower cost than slower, non-ultra high-speed services currently offered by other providers.
Initially available in select properties in Burnaby and Coquitlam located on Urban’s 200 km. fibre network, the new 100 Mbps service will increase Urban’s market share and customer acquisition rates by appealing to those looking for a better value, higher performance alternative service.
