$TBEV Why Proteins are essential for athletes
Most athletes tend to focus on their carb intake and pay very little attention to how much protein their body needs. This has a negative effect on their endurance levels which in turn has an adverse effect on performance. Elite endurance athletes need more than average amounts of protein so that the supply can maintain lean muscle mass continuously. Low protein levels can otherwise cancel out the beneficial effects of a warm up leading to fatigue, anemia and constant lethargy which can lead to serious disorders in time.
Here is why you should have a diet rich in protein if you are an athlete:
Builds Muscles
Proteins are the only nutrients that build muscle in the body and it is also responsible for their growth and repair. That’s because it contains essential amino acids which are linked together in a chain and which promote growth in general. Incidentally, amino acids are the main means by which we receive nitrogen which promotes muscle growth.
Enhances fat mobilization
Protein can increase glucagon concentration in the body. This hormone is responsible for mobilizing fat while reducing the rate at which it is stored in liver and adipose cells. By decreasing the amount of these fat enzymes, proteins ensure greater fat loss during rigorous activities such as cycling, swimming, marathons, runs, sprints and other high endurance activities. In fact, if you take enough fat burn is imminent even if you have a high calorie diet.
When should protein be taken?
Like most nutrients there is a time to take proteins when it can benefit the body the best. The best time to take it is right after a workout or exercise session. This way your tired and torn muscles will get the amino acids they need to repair themselves and recover faster for the next leg. It is also a good idea to consume nutrient rich sports drinks such as High Performance Beverages Sports Drink an hour within a performance so that you can keep going without feeling fatigue or tiring out too quickly. It can also be taken 15 minutes during a high intensity activity if you start feeling the burn of lactic acid in your limbs in that duration.
High Performance Beverages Sports Drink has 3g of protein in every bottle which is ideal for athletes. For more information on High Performance Beverages Sports Drink and its benefits for hydration, mental focus, endurance and post recovery see their website at http://bev.highperformancebeverage.com or www.amazon.com/Performance-Punch-16-Ounce-Pack/dp/B014Q64HEI
