I believe you are confusing "shorting a stock" and selling a "short position" or a position that you have not held for longer than a year to get a smaller capital gains penalty. What I believe most here are doing is selling chunks, that they have not held for a year, at a day high and buying back low to profit or accumulate free shares. Most of which are , I firmly believe, trading from a 401k plan which means they wont get taxed until retirement or when they get a president in office that changes the capital gains rules like they have in the past. Not sure if anyone is stupid enough to actually "short" , or borrow shares from a broker to replace them at a lower price, a .03 cent stock. Unlimited chance of bankruptcy for that little maneuver. Just like the poor bastards that trusted Skrelli!
