Georgia Has Flipped To Hillary Clinton In New Stunning Electoral Map Projection

Sun, Oct 16th, 2016 at 2:33 pm

The latest YouGov election model contains some shocking news for Republicans as it currently projects that Georgia will flip to Hillary Clinton on Election Day.

The new YouGov model projects that Hillary Clinton will defeat Donald Trump 48%-42% in the popular vote, and will win the Electoral College 362-176.

Clinton is currently projected to break into the Republican South by winning North Carolina, Florida, and Georgia. Of the three states listed above, Georgia would be a big shock. Georgia has not gone Democratic in a presidential election since Bill Clinton won the state in 1992, but the combination of changing demographics and Donald Trump has opened the door for Hillary Clinton in 2016.

The latest YouGov survey of Georgia reveals Hillary Clinton leading Donald Trump 46.9%-44.4%. Trump leads with white voters 66%-23%, while Clinton leads Trump with black voters in 87%-8%. The Democratic nominee also leads with the state’s Hispanic voters 53%-35%. Trump is underperforming with men in Georgia, as he only leads 48%-42%, while Hillary Clinton’s lead with women is 51%-41%.

The data suggests that Georgia is definitely in play for Hillary Clinton, and the numbers could be even better for her if Donald Trump continues to depress Republican turnout with talk of a “rigged election.”

The opportunity exists for Hillary Clinton to expand the Democratic map into places where it hasn’t been in decades. It isn’t just Trump causing this shift. States like Georgia were demographically changing. Donald Trump is helping to transform the state from reliably red to a purple battleground.
