Miami – Florida's Attorney General Pam Bondi criticized the content of the controversial video in which Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump bragged about his sexual aggression, but said that as a "Christian" she pardons him and will continue to support him in his run for the White House.
The Republican state official has been denounced for accepting a $25,000 donation from the real estate magnate in 2013 for her reelection at a time when the now-candidate for the presidency faced complaints about cheating students at Trump University, charges the AG Office decided not to investigate.
"I believe the statements that Donald Trump says are disgusting. Disgusting, period," Bondi said at a luncheon of the Florida Federation of Republican Women in Pasco County on Florida's west coast, local media reported Saturday.
The attorney general, who had not previously commented on the controversial video that was televised last week, said that she nonetheless continues to support Trump, who now has been accused by at least eight women of groping them and other acts of sexual misconduct without their consent.
"I have spoken to him multiple times (and) he believes what he said was disgusting," Bondi said.
She said that just as Trump's running mate Mike Pence has pardoned the magnate based on his "evangelical Christian" beliefs, she has also pardoned him.
" I believe in forgiveness," Bondi said with reference to Trump, who has denied all accusations of sexual aggression.
The Trump campaign has said that the non-profit Trump Foundation made a clerical error in giving money to And Justice for All, Bondi's political committee.
Trump might have to testify in court next Nov. 28 about possible fraud involving Trump University, soon after the presidential elections of Nov. 8 in which he will run against Democrat Hillary Clinton.
