First Polls Taken After Release Of Trump Tape Show A Looming Clinton Landslide

By Sean Colarossi on Mon, Oct 10th, 2016 at 9:55 pm

While the race seemed to be a nail-biter just weeks ago, the chances of a Clinton blowout are rising by the day.

The first polls conducted following the release of the controversial ‘Access Hollywood’ tapes spell an impending disaster for Donald Trump and a potential landslide for Hillary Clinton.
In several national polls released on Monday, Clinton is beating Trump handily.

One poll from the absurdly pro-Trump Rasmussen Reports has the Democratic nominee trouncing Trump by seven points – 45 to 38. That’s a six-point swing in Clinton’s direction since Friday.

Another survey, UPI/CVoter, that’s been pretty favorable toward Trump shows Clinton now with a six-point lead over the Republican nominee – 50 to 44. That’s a four-point shift toward Clinton in a single day.

Economist/YouGov also has Clinton ahead by six points, which is double what her lead was in their last survey.

In the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released on Monday, Clinton has a mammoth 11-point lead – 46 to 35 – over Trump in a four-candidate race. In a head-to-head contest, Clinton absolutely destroys Trump, beating him by a margin of 14 points, 52 to 38.

While there hasn’t been much polling out of battleground states following the release of the Trump tape, the two released on Monday in Wisconsin and North Carolina both give the Democratic nominee leads of 8 points and 1 point, respectively.

According to FiveThirtyEight, Clinton now has a roughly 80 percent chance of winning the presidency on Nov. 8.

As Trump continues to implode and more tapes are likely to come out, there is a real possibility that the numbers won’t just continue to look like this for Clinton – but they could get even better for her.

While the race seemed to be a nail-biter just weeks ago, the chances of a Clinton blowout are rising by the day.
