Donald Trump doubled down on his claim that he was against the war in Iraq, while answering a question at the second presidential debate .
Earlier in the debate, Hillary Clinton criticized Trump for his criticisms of the Khan family--a Muslim-American family that spoke at the Democratic National Convention.
Moderator Martha Raddatz asked Trump about the "Muslim ban" he spoke of in 2015.
"Captain Khan is an American hero--and if I were president at that time, he would be alive today, because unlike her, who voted for the war...I would not have had our people in Iraq."
Captain Humayun Khan was killed in the War on Terror in the mid-2000s.
Trump said his 'Muslim ban' has morphed into his "extreme vetting" platform.
"We are going to areas like Syria where they are coming in by the tens of thousands...we have no idea who they are, where they are from and what they're feelings toward our country is."
