I suppose it's all relative. So someone purchased $30k worth of PTOI shares over the course of a month or so, which admittedly is large for PTOI, and that impressed at least two long-time longs, eliciting, "Holy crap" and "Wow!!!"
I guess the story is that anyone who can beat that $30k, can impress their fellow investors even more. Warning...buying penny stock shares to impress other message board posters can be hazardous to your financial health.
What I've also seen work on another message board was where one poster offered to send a chicken hat (the guy sold those hats for living) to whomever purchased the most shares (each week?? I forget.). It wasn't the chicken hat, but the competition which seemed to spur investors into buying. People listed their share holdings and that psychologically locked them in as well.
