Super-Owners': Survey Shows More Legally-Owned Gun

A new survey of gun owners shows the era of ‘super-owner’ has arrived,” Melissa Francis said on America’s Election HQ.
Over the past 20 years, there has been an increase in guns being owned by Americans, while the number of gun owners themselves has gone down, according to a survey by Harvard and Northeastern Universities.
In 1994, there were 192 million guns in the possession of American citizens.
Today that number is 265 million—a 38 percent increase.
However, the percentage of gun owners has dropped slightly from 25 to 22 percent over that time.
These so-called ‘super-owners’ that possess multiple firearms own an average of 17 guns each, Trace Gallagher reported.
There has also been a fundamental shift in gun-ownership attitudes.
Years ago, most people owned guns primarily for sport or hunting.
Today, owners said they keep firearms at home to protect themselves and their families.
Gun advocates fear this study will press the government to increase efforts toward restrictive action, Gallagher reported.
