LivSecure is proud to announce the winners of its first annual national scholarship program, which supports students who are studying to make our neighborhoods a safer place. The three winners from New York and Oregon will receive scholarships to help fund college degrees in law, law enforcement, criminal justice or a related field.
Applicants were asked to write an essay on what attracted the applicant to a law enforcement-related career and what they hoped to achieve from this career. The three winners were selected from more than 200 submissions by an internal committee. This year’s winners are:
Hunter Diana Maclean is a freshman at Colgate University in New York and received the $1,000 scholarship to pursue her dream of becoming an attorney. Hunter has always believed strongly in justice and having compassion for others. While still in high school, she started a charity called Warm Detroit, where she collected hats, gloves and jackets for the less fortunate.
Taylor M. Glass, a freshman at Erie Community College in New York, received a $500 scholarship to aid in her plans to become a civilian law enforcement officer. Taylor is already a member of the New York Army National Guard and member of the honorable Military Police Corps.
Christina Lydia-Marie Azhocar, who will attend Portland State University in Oregon also received a $500 scholarship and plans to study criminal justice with the goal of becoming a civil servant or police officer. She excelled in the NJROTC program, graduated from leadership camps, was captain of the academics, drill, and marksmanship teams, was a public affairs officer, and was the highest ranking junior cadet in her unit.
