FRANKFURT (MarketWatch) — U.S. stock index futures logged small gains Tuesday as investors turn their attention toward the start of a two-day meeting of Federal Reserve policy makers that’s expected to provide further monetary stimulus, while keeping an eye on talks aimed at avoiding the “fiscal cliff.”
S&P 500 Index futures (GLC:SPZ2) rose 2.5 points to 1,422.70. Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average (CBOT JZ2) advanced 27 points to 13,214. Nasdaq 100 futures (CME:NDZ2) rose 4.75 points to 2,655.25.
“Financial markets continue to trade sideways in an environment where headlines seem to have lost their bite. Poor liquidity conditions as we approach the end of the year seem to be keeping portfolios on a tight leash around their benchmarks,” wrote strategists at Barclays. http://www.marketwatch.com/story/stock-future...2012-12-11
