Gold climbs; investors weigh data, debt woes
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — Gold futures climbed Monday, as investors grappled with a slew of mixed economic data from China and eyed developments surrounding the U.S. debt ceiling and the euro zone.
February gold (CNS:GCG3) rose $9.10, or 0.5%, to $1,714.60 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. It touched a high of $1,718.80.
