With the first 2016 presidential debate just hours away, every aspect of the much-anticipated event is being analyzed and scrutinized. That includes Hillary Clinton's customized lectern.
Clinton's podium at the the Hofstra University debate hall will feature a customized step stool to compensate for the 10-inch height advantage held by the 6-foot-3 Donald Trump, Fox News reported.
The "Outnumbered" co-hosts speculated today that this maneuver could boost the optics for the Democratic nominee.
Eboni Williams explained that the debate is more about making an impression with the 100 million-plus voters who will be watching, and less about policy nuance.
"General impression is going to win the day," Williams stated. "And it if it's about style or substance, style is going to win."
Howard Kurtz agreed that viewers don't view these presidential debates as "policy seminars," but instead as opportunities to judge the candidates' character.
"It's about those moments - especially the reaction shots - that's the thing that people will be buzzing about and that's the thing you remember 24 hours later."
