Once upon a time there ethic groups didn't enter marry down to tribal bloodlines regardless of color of skin. Irish married Irish, English married English. In Scotland as in many area's "Clans" were made up of several family's and married was reserved for those within that Clan. Keeping bloodline pure.
Some still practice this, only in a little wider circle. Royals marry only those within the royal bloodlines. RCC will not marry in most cases unyoked people in the RC faith and that is practiced in many other world faiths. KKK believe in separation of races from bloodlines, color to living space, which they uphold their belief from a point of faith. Amish practice this.
Mud race though.... from the aspect of where we were 1000's of years ago. They whole world is a little muddier. Still those that prefer to keep there bloodlines pure. Some of those circles get larger some get smaller.
Some assimilate faster than others...most consider a generation 20 years these days meaning ever 100 years there is 4-5 generations. Some of the older bloodline assimilate slower as in 30-50 years in a generation or 2-3 generations every 100's years.
I would say the later falls into the "Silent Majority" wiser and more prudent...
