Yes, the traders working for institutions are generally much more nimble in hitting the sell button than those of us who are retail investors. They are paid to track events closely and are able to do more in after-hours trading. Hence the steep cliff from which the price falls.
As I have said various times, stocks falling off a cliff may represent good value to the long-term holder. When the FDA refused to approve the treatment for pulmonary fibrosis being pushed by ITMN, I scarfed some of that up and that worked out well. I've also been on the short end of too many stocks with trial failures.
That is one reason why I really appreciate a company like CTIX, with a broad pipeline and excellent results in every trial thus far.
