Jerry has family and friends, I'm sure he's not just thinking of himself. To maximize the success of the business, he needs to follow the path of least resistance (and least expensive capital) toward rapid expansion to grow the brand as large as possible and as quickly as possible in order to get a strong foothold in national and international markets. Beat the competition to becoming the next big thing in this market and you win.
I'm sure that's why he's doing this. Everybody wins, not just Jerry, and his legacy will not just be his financial success but his brand becoming a major global brand and his family and friends all set for life. Something to be extremely proud of. I don't see where that's something that's difficult to perceive. It's common sense really.
The Chinese investors made sure to make their move ahead of any other interested parties because they understand that this brand is hot as hell, and it's missing one thing ONLY: a robust supply of inexpensive capital to bring it to fruition. This will make all of the inevitable big distribution deals go smoothly without interruptions to the supply chain.
