I go all the way back to '60 when I saw Billy Casper all the time at the San Diego CC in Chula Vista. One time, I being in about 5th grade, this tall lady beat my brother and I to the first tee after school one day which really ticked us off til we saw her hit, frigging unbelievable. She turned out to be Mickey Wright. Showed just how far we had to go to be considered good. Since then have had the opportunity to meet many pros and play with quite a number, most recent being Martin Flores (finished about 95 on the PGA money list this year) who is from my home course and is quite a gentleman. Success couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Now if he can improve his 8-9-wedge game to top level he will have a great career.
I was head of QC for iron heads at Ben Hogan in '79 and met him a few times. Realized quite soon I didn't want to be on the mfg. side of the game but on the playing side.
I have quite a number of great golf stories we can share at the CTIX party.
