While Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was speaking to a large crowd in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina on Monday, his running mate Mike Pence stopped in Washington to discuss the campaign with Bret Baier.
Regarding Hillary Clinton’s apparent fainting episode at the World Trade Center memorial, Pence said he and Trump “wish her well and are praying for her swift recovery.”
However, Pence said the campaign will continue to criticize Clinton for her “Basket Of Deplorables” remark at a Barbra Streisand-headlined fundraiser in New York last week.
Calling the remark “shocking”, Pence said that “for Hillary Clinton to literally…say that millions of Americans are irredeemable…I think what you saw there in a prepared speech…[was] the worst statement I have ever heard by a national candidate in my lifetime.”
He also discussed the controversy over Trump’s tax returns and Clinton’s emails—both of which have yet to be fully released.
