Now they are some strange people. If you are referring to Stephen King, they live in Bangor (2 hours north of me ) but have a summer home in Lovell (25 miles from me). Before Fedex screwed me,I delivered to them in Lovell for 5 years. Not once did anyone come to the door (even though I could see them) Never so much as a thank you,
Once the Kings were away on Vacation and the Boston Red Sox were in the division Championships.I think it was 2008.They had sent airplane tiekets and Sox tickets overnight via Fedex Express to their caretaker and her husband to join them. They did not specify a delivery time so Fedex had no deadline to deliver, just next day.I worked for the Home Delivery Division and the caretaker saw me and chased me down asking if I had the package.I told her that Fedex Express would. Not me.She was panicked because it was getting late .I took her cell # and told her I would do what I could.
I left Lovell and headed to Fryeburg (10 miles) knowing the Express driver would be in the area.I found him and flagged him and told him the situation and he said he wouldn't get to her for another 3 hours (which would be too late).I signed for the package and called the caretaker back and told her I had retrieved the package from Express. She was overjoyed and would be coming to the Fryeburg airstrip and I said I know the postmaster at the Fryeburg Post Office he will hold your package for you. I spoke to Dan at the Post Office and he said certainly.
Now if that's not above and beyond the call,I don't know what is.Not one thank you from anyone?? The Kings could have called FDX customer service and thanked them.I would have been notified.Nothing.I did get notified about a couple of complaints that day for being later than I usually was , though (
