The Central Europe, Russia and Turkey Fund, Inc., The European Equity Fund, Inc., and The New Germany Fund, Inc. Announce Annual Meetings of Stockholders

The Central Europe, Russia and Turkey Fund, Inc. (NYSE:CEE), The European Equity Fund, Inc. (NYSE:EEA), and The New Germany Fund, Inc. (NYSE:GF) (each, a "Fund," and, collectively, the "Funds" announced today that the Annual Meeting of Stockholders for each Fund will be held at 10:00 a.m., Eastern time on June 30, 2016 at the offices of Deutsche Investment Management Americas Inc., 345 Park Avenue, New York, New York 10154. At the Meeting, stockholders of the Funds will consider the election of Directors and certain other routine matters. In addition, stockholders of EEA will be asked to consider a proposal to adopt Articles of Amendment to the Fund's charter to eliminate the classification of the Board of Directors. Details of the proposals will be set forth in proxy statements expected to be mailed to stockholders next month. Holders of shares of common stock of record of the Funds at the close of business on May 17, 2016 are entitled to vote at the Meeting and any postponements or adjournments thereof.

(NYSE:CEE) (the "Fund" announced today that its Board of Directors approved a change in the benchmark index for the Fund from the MSCI Emerging Markets Europe Index to the MSCI Emerging Markets Europe ex Greece Index. The change will become effective March 1, 2016. The Fund's adviser, Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management International GmbH, believes the MSCI Emerging Markets Europe ex Greece Index is a more appropriate benchmark for the Fund, which has not had investments in Greece for over a year and does not intend to invest in Greece.
