Google is Rumored to Be Releasing a New Chromecast

The Google Chromecast is one of the highest selling streaming media players with a starting point of just $35. The little streaming ball has no remote and needs a phone or tablet to operate but its low price point and support for all things Google has made it an attractive option.
Now, according to the Android Police, there is a new 4K version of the Google Chromecast coming. The announcement is expected to happen at an October 4 press event. Android Police claims to have a creditable source and has a track record of getting early scoops on all things Google.
According to the Android Police source, the 4K version of the Google Chromecast was meant to be released last year when the Chromecast 2 came out; however, for some unknown reason it was delayed. Although there is no official statement on why the device was delayed, it is speculated that the performance of the 4K Chromecast did not meet Google’s expectations.
Not only is Google rumored to be coming out with a new 4K Chromecast but it is also releasing Google Home, the long expected competitor to Amazon’s voice-activated Echo media/smart home device. We will also likely see a new phone and a new VR device from Google.
The new 4K Chromecast joins a growing list of new devices coming out this fall. Including the expected new Roku, Fire TV, and Nvidia Shield.
