Sheriff Hits Back at Kaepernick for Comparing Poli

A California sheriff’s office has responded after 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick compared police training to cosmetology school.
The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, which encompasses nearby Oakland, posted an open letter on its Facebook page inviting the San Francisco quarterback to take part in their police academy to witness firsthand the training cadets must undergo before becoming officers:
“We would like to cordially invite you to the [training center]…We have a specially designed Use of Force Simulator that puts officers in situations where they must make split second decisions on what actions to take [against a suspect].”
After he triggered a national controversy by sitting through the national anthem before a preseason game Friday, Kaepernick defended the decision in an interview, and plans to continue to sit until issues including alleged police brutality are corrected.
The law enforcement officials took special exception to a certain line from the interview: “You can become a cop in six months, and don’t have to have the same amount of training as a cosmetologist, that’s insane,” Kaepernick said at the time.
“We hope that you will take this opportunity to meet with a new generation of law enforcement officers and have an open dialogue,” the sheriff’s office’s post reads.
