CNN’s Keilar: Clinton’s Lack of Press Conferences
‘An Accountability Issue,’ ‘It Feels a Little Bubbly To Me’

On Friday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Situation Room,” CNN Senior Political Correspondent Brianna Keilar stated that Democratic presidential nominee former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s lack of press conferences “feels a little bubbly” and is partially an issue of “accountability” while interviewing Clinton transition team co-chair and former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm (D)

Keilar said that Clinton not holding press conferences is, in part, “an accountability issue.”

After Granholm cited interviews she had done on TV, Keilar countered that reporters who follow Clinton every day could do “more of a deep dive” and voters could benefit from this.

Granholm responded that TV interviewers knew what to ask Clinton, to which Keilar stated that there haven’t been “a ton” of opportunities to interview Clinton, and “these 300-plus interviews you’re talking, a fifth of them, according to NPR, aren’t even with journalists, and most of these are quick little interviews between three and eight minutes where you can really accomplish getting to very little.”

Granholm responded that the public has seen “a lot” of Clinton, and will continue “to see a lot of her.” And it’s not as if Clinton is in a bubble.

Keilar then said, “I will say, it feels a little bubbly to me, as a reporter who covers Hillary Clinton, but I — I’m definitely noting what you’re saying there.”
