Appealing Underdog Saga "GREATER" In Theaters Friday August 26
Brandon Burlsworth and "GREATER" are quite the inspirational story. If you are looking for motivation or a role model for you or your children, consider "GREATER". Go see the movie, buy the DVD or the book (not a plug, HHSE involvement is small in "GREATER". It is just an incredible, true life story.
In spending just a little time at http://greaterthemovie.com/ here are several amazing things I learned:
* After Arkansas lost a football game, the coaches were coming out of a meeting late at night, and heard a strange noise. Turns out it was Brandon Burlsworth, all by himself in the middle of the night, hitting the blocking sleds.
* Indianapolis Colts selected Brandon Burlsworth in the 3rd Round of the 1999 NFL Draft. After extensive research, the Colts were so impressed by him, the Colts fully expected Burlsworth to instantly become a Starter and anchor their Offensive Line for the next dozen or so years.
* Obviously Arkansas Football meant almost everything to Burlsworth. The Arkansas team was having a ceremony on a Wednesday Night to pass out their Championship Rings. Brandon reluctantly informed the Coach he could not attend the ceremony. Brandon had to be home that night, as every Wednesday Night he took his mother to church.
* The drive from Fayetteville to his home town of Harrison was about 62 miles of curving and winding roads. It was during this drive home to take his mother to church, that Brandon Burlsworth was involved in a car accident that cut short his life and career, just 11 days after the NFL Draft.
