They know that it is very unlikely that there will be a press release of anything major until after Labor Day. All of the senior people in the big firms are away on vacation now.
It would be extremely foolish of them not to try to take advantage of this dead period to cover their short positions. I guess eventually we'll see it there is a large short position remaining. How? By how intense the short squeeze is on the next big positive news. If there are a lot of remaining short shares, "they" will have to cover and this will fuel the move even higher.
I'm talking about real short shares, natch, not the BS air shares that the big guys will be able to keep going for at least awhile.
