I think I may have mentioned this before but if not, we often hear of all the wondrous things QDots can do (theoretically) , but we seldom hear of what the hang-ups are in moving these apps from bench to commercialization. With this in-mind, the article I posted earlier today provides a glimpse into the somewhat ' elementary' state QD-thermoelectric research is in...I have no way of knowing if other researchers are any further along, but if not, there appears to be a very long way to go before anything comes of that.
The same goes for the QD security apps we've heard so much about , as illustrated by this quote from a newsbyte this afternoon: " Today single-photon sources for uncrackable encryption keys, such as quantum dots, operate at extremely low rates — just a few photons per second — making their light extremely dim ": http://www.eetimes.com/document.asp?doc_id=1330340 Hereagain, I don't know if these guys are behind the times, but if not, where's-the-beef ?
