That's an interesting coincidence that you posted that; I happened to have had the chance to travel to DC for the day Saturday and did notice some of the discoloration on some spots at the Lincoln memorial. I covered the National Mall from the Capital to Lincoln, but the Jefferson monument was the only one I didn't get to. I only had the day, so I had to speed tour everything I wanted to see and I opted to stick to looping the Mall. I must say the refurbishment of the Capital Dome looks pretty spectacular; it is GLEAMING white. Quite inspiring to see that symbol of our democracy look so good. Now we just have to work on cleaning up the garbage that happens on the inside of the building, ha ha. That's my only political statement.
