Woman's Funeral Had No Attendees, So 30 Strangers
Post# of 51559
When a New York woman with no family passed away, the call went out for people to attend her funeral.
Amazingly, 30 strangers showed up to serve as Francine Stein’s pallbearers and help bury her during the service Wednesday at a cemetery in Orangetown.
The Journal News reported that after Rabbi Elchanan Weinbach learned that nobody would be attending Stein's funeral, his daughter posted about it on Facebook, asking if anybody was available.
The post was widely shared, and ultimately as many as 30 strangers were present Wednesday to help with the service and pay their respects to Stein.
“For the people who attended, it was an assertion of human dignity,” Weinbach said.
